September 17th, 2016 - Matt Gilbertson Competes in WISSOTA 100
1 Matt Gilbertson made the trip to the Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 this past weekend at the Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, South Dakota. Matt skipped the Wednesday portion of the event and entered action on Thursday night with both his WISSOTA Late Model and Modified.

Matt raced from the outside of the front row to a heat race victory in the Late Model on Thursday night, setting himself up with the third starting spot in the night's main event. Matt then raced from third to finish third in the feature after battling inside the top five all event long, locking himself into Saturday night's $10,000 to win finale. Matt raced from third to finish fourth in his Modified heat race, earning himself the 18th starting spot in the night's qualifying feature. He then proceeded to work his way forward and advanced 11 positions to finish 7th, locking his Modified into Saturday night's main event as well.

Saturday night, Matt rolled off from the outside of the third row in the Late Model feature and raced around the top ten for the early part of the event, before pulling off and retiring for the night. The Modified main event saw Matt start 18th and rally through the field to an 8th place finish during the 30-lap nightcap.

September 11th, 2016 - Gilbertson Wins Seitz Memorial at River Cities
1 Matt entered a trio of WISSOTA-sanctioned events this past weekend, which kicked off on Friday and Saturday nights at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota for the John Seitz Memorial. Friday night, Matt turned his first ever laps at the tight quarter mile and raced form 9th to 3rd in his heat race, setting himself up with the 12th starting position in the feature event. After starting 12th, Matt stormed through traffic and raced his way up to a battle for the lead as the laps wound down. Matt raced to the inside of leader Zach Johnson several times, but settled for 2nd and earned hard charger honors in the process.

Saturday, Matt lined up fourth in his heat race and stormed to an easy victory and then redrew the outside of the front row for the night's $920 to win, 30-lap main. Matt took control at the start of the feature but was involved in a great three car battle during the mid point of the show with Friday night's winner Zach Johnson and Johnny Broking. Matt shook off their challenges and raced to his first ever win at River Cities and his first Seitz Memorial Championship.

1Sunday night on the way home, Matt stopped by the Madison Speedway in Madison, MN to compete and won his heat race, but failed to finish the main as he had his air cleaner knocked off early in the main, ending his night.
