October 18th, 2015 - Gilbertson Competes in Both Cars at Granite City Speedway
1 Matt towed both the Modified and the Late Model to the final WISSOTA national points weekend of the year at the Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota for 2 complete programs to wrap up the 2015 national point season. Saturday, Matt made his first laps around the icy slick Granite City of the 2015 racing season and raced to a 4th place finish in his Late Model heat race and a 6th place finish in his Modified qualifier. 4th in the Late Model earned him the 10th starting spot for the night's 30-lap feature, but 6th in the Mod meant he would need to run the night's semi feature. He started on the front row and easily won the b, putting him 21st on the grid for the Mod feature. Matt moved forward in both main events, racing from 10th to 8th in the ultra competitive Late Model field and from 23rd to 13th in the 25-lap Mod main.

Sunday night, Matt stormed from 9th to 4th in his Modified heat race and also finished 4th in his Late Model heat. Matt then wrapped up the weekend with an 11th to 10th run in his Modified feature and a 12th place finish in the Late Model main.

October 10th, 2015 - Matt Notches Impressive Runner-up Finish at Viking Speedway
1Matt and Team MGR made their way to the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, Minnesota for the season-ending Viking Fall Classic this past weekend. Matt brought both the WISSOTA Late Model and Modified to the event and had a great weekend overall. Matt started 3rd in his heat race with the Late Model and after a spirited battle for second, he secured the position and maintained the runner up spot to the checkered. His second finishing position earned him 7th best in overall passing points, allowing Matt to start inside of the fourth row for the $4,000 to win, 40-lap main event. Matt raced his way inside the top 10 much of the event, sliding to 13th at the finish.

1The Modified was on point all weekend, racing to an easy heat race victory after starting outside of the front row, earning himself 7th in overall passing points just like in the Late Model, meaning that Matt would start inside of the 4th row for that $3,000 to win, 30-lap main as well. During the feature, Matt quickly jumped into the top five and secured the third running position mid-race before beginning to challenge the second place running car with just over 10 laps remaining. Matt pulled a slide job to secure second and began to chase down the leader as the laps wore away. After slipping by a pair of lapped cars, Matt charged after the race's event long leader and closed to within just a few car lengths when the checkered flew, ending up with a very solid runner up finish.
